Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PageScribe ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our Chrome extension and website. Document content is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers.

Data handling

The extension handles only the information needed to provide the feature you request:

• The active document URL, title, and displayed content are used locally in your browser only to create the PDF you request
• Document content, image assets, and generated PDFs are not sent to our licensing service
• If you choose to activate PRO, we send your license key and a randomly generated per-browser device identifier to the licensing service over HTTPS to verify your license
• The free tier does not require an account or sign-in
• We do not ask for or collect credentials for third-party document services

Data security

Document content stays on your device. License verification data is transmitted using HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we process.

Local storage and retention

The extension stores its license status, daily export count, and short-lived export task data in your browser. A generated PDF is kept in extension-local temporary storage for up to one hour, or until you download it. You can remove this local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its extension data.

Website services and third parties

The Extension itself does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Our website may use analytics, advertising, payment, and hosting providers. In particular, PRO license verification and payments are handled by our payment provider, Creem. These providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser or device information, pages visited, and cookie identifiers under their own privacy policies. Where the website uses non-essential cookies, we do so only with your consent, and you can manage or disable them in your browser settings. We do not sell document content or generated PDFs, and we do not use them for advertising.

Children's privacy

The Extension and website are intended for users aged 18 and over and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it as soon as practicable.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict our processing of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

Because the Extension processes documents locally and stores little on our servers, most of your data can be removed simply by uninstalling the Extension or clearing its storage. To exercise any of the above rights, contact our support team.

Legal basis for processing

Where we process personal data (for example, license verification for PRO users and technical data from the website), we rely on:

• Performance of a contract — to provide the features you request, such as verifying your PRO license
• Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Extension and website
• Consent — for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies on the website
• Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law

International transfers

Our licensing and payment provider (Creem) and website service providers may process data in countries outside your region of residence. Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on our providers' appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it in line with this policy.
